2021.10.21 18:06 hinataboobs I'm going through an Identity Crisis and..
Hello, So i'm 18 and currently I'm going through an Identity Crisis and I'm in this state of confusion because I literally don't know myself and i didn't get the chance to explore myself during my teenage years because of an abusive household. Sometimes I feel like I just mirror people and act in a way they will like me in. I'm also confused cuz sometimes i feel fake with people because again... I don't know if the personality that I show to people is truly me , or do i act that way cuz I want them to like me? Like i'm literally so confused and i don't know who i truly am And recently I feel like I wanna cut everyone from my life and start from scratch with new people and friends because I wanna evolve and I feel like my current friends are holding me back from doing that ( maybe it's not true but i'm doubting everything rn) Plus its so hard to find my own people and people who can understand me and see me and Appreciate me for who I truly am, Because at this point I don't know if i'm a people pleaser or if I'm just a nice person in general.

2021.10.21 18:06 solid-shadow Learning from frequent setbacks/delays as a student pilot.
I wanted to share some experience I’ve been having the past month to perhaps help other students in the same boat as me right now know that they’re not alone, and that having delays and setbacks to your training can actually be a good thing with the right attitude!
So, I’ve been post solo since mid July now and have been working on finishing up all the other reqs for PPL. Got all my dual XC done in August, all of my night flying and most of my hood time in September, and this month (October) has been for solo cross countries….except I have had to cancel a bunch of scheduled solo xc flights this month for various reasons, which has been nothing short of extremely frustrating. However, each cancellation has been a valuable learning experience in one way or another, particularly in aeronautical decision making, that makes me actually grateful for the setbacks.
First was two flights over the first weekend of the month that were scrapped for the plane’s 100 hr maintenance; we have a lot of planes, but only one that’s really suited for long XC flights for students because of its higher HP engine, so I realistically couldn’t take one of the other planes out. WX was perfect both days. This reminded me of the importance f maintenance and that sometimes things just won’t work out as planned and to be ready for anything.
The following week I was luckily able to get my first solo XC in on a mostly perfect day and it simultaneously counted for my long XC (KFLY-KLHX-KCOS-KFLY, around 170nm) and i did my 3 full stop towered landings during it too, netting me 2.7 hours of solo xc time. I now only need another 2.3 hours of it, so running the same trip again once or twice should be more than enough. I planned to do it again Sunday of the same week, but there was an icing airmet out just above my cruise altitude of 9500 feet, so I made the decision to cancel. This helped me learn more about Airmets and icing, since instead of flying i studied these topics more in depth to learn why it was the right call to cancel that day.
I had a few other attempts booked the following week, each of which needed to be cancelled due to last minute work meetings. Last Saturday was going to be the day I thought; I had been watching the weather all week and it looked like it would be a perfect day. After getting signed off that Saturday and going out to the plane, I noticed the wind sock spinning like crazy and could feel strong gusts of wind. I’m allowed up to a 15 kt crosswind for solo xc flights including gusts, so I kept calling the AWOS to listen before preflighting; 90 degree xwind gusting 14 kts one listen, then gusting 17 in a different direction after another listen. This was perhaps the hardest moment of ADM i’ve had to this point, as I REALLY wanted to go, but kept looking at the windsock, feeling the plane shake, and hearing the AWOS report variable gusts under and over my max made me decide to call it. I didn’t think it was worth it to try and skirt right under what was allowed with such chaotic winds, and left feeling like I had chickened out. Called the AWOS an hour later and sure enough, the wind had gotten worse: gusting to 20 kts xwind. This taught me that its better safe than sorry to cancel if just under what’s allowed, especially at an area that rarely follows what is forecast, as the weather could get worse before it gets better.
Finally is today, which was my next scheduled attempt for this repeat solo xc. Weather looked good all week, and sure enough it was! But yesterday, I started to feel pressure in my ears, and sure enough woke up today with a headache and ear congestion. While I don’t feel ill and this is likely due to the rapid temp changes in my area, I remembered the IM SAFE checklist and decided it wasn’t worth risking blowing an ear drum just to fly today. I have plenty more days booked, so I decided it’s better to feel 100% for the whole flight instead of feeling 95% at the start and feel like 10% by the end of it.
All these experiences have been invaluable in teaching me to be more patient, and I believe I am a safer pilot for it. All this is to say, if you’ve had to cancel and reschedule constantly in your training like me, try and look at each cancellation as a lesson in decision making and realize that you’re still learning from it it!
Have you had any frustrating learning experiences like mine too? I’d love to hear more similar stories!

2021.10.21 18:06 amnr123 Best way to mail PE application?
So let me start by saying that I have some anxiety about stuff getting lost in the mail as it has happened to me a few times and want to make sure the application gets delivered right so I don't have to repeat this process again and also so I can take the test on time.
Just wanted to know how most people submit their applications to their state board.
Do you use priority mail at USPS or FedEx overnight or something else?

Bought in Missouri. I was hoping we could get this thing home to someone who knows these kids or whoever owned the locket. Help me out y'all!

This will be my 4th hula, but my first time going to a festival solo, I’m super excited, but also a bit nervous; I know all of you camp Reddit folks are wild 😛 but do you guys have any advice for doing solo festivals? I’m sure I’ll be able to make so many friends, but still, it’s a little daunting

2021.10.21 18:06 singingtent Whining Before Dinner
Looking for some advice. Our 6 year old Portuguese Water dog is generally a really good boy, but he can be manipulative and demanding. Give-an-inch-take-a-mile kind of dog. And he is EXTREMELY food obsessed.
Since the pandemic and us working from home, he has started whining for his dinner. A constant, high-pitched crying while lying on the floor. It start around 4pm, and gets more consistent until 5pm dinner time. We try our best not to feed him when he whines, but he's so persistent (will whine for 3 hours straight). After the post-work walk, he will march straight over to his bowl, flip it by hitting with his paw, and let out a horrid two-toned bark. I've since told him to go lie down and wait quietly in order to get his dinner, but have not seen any improvement in the behavior.
Any creative suggestions out there? Maybe i should break his two-meal schedule into 3 or 4? He acts like he's starving all the time, to the point where i had full blood work done just to confirm no underlying medical conditions causing hunger.
