2021.11.29 06:20 Anorrax When did this all happen??
I haven't played DCUO for a while I took a break after a burnout. I logged in and resulted yesterday and honestly didn't have a clue what was going on. Had my CR at 302
Naturally my old League wasn't around anymore, Watchtower was deserted, all the Group seeking chat was flooding my chat window, Instance window changes, Allies...
When did this all happen?? And what's important to know??

2021.11.29 06:20 Toshero Crazy dad strikes back! [TW: LOTS OF TRANSPHOBIA and crazy]
Saturday was a shitty day. My mum calls me in the kitchen to talk about school, the conversation devolves into discussing me being a trans girl, she says a lot very hurtful stuff, I loudly cried to her face. She also keeps making it super clear she's a trans guy (or at least enby) in denial but maybe I'm just projecting. After she was done I shut myself in my room and cried some more. I really wanted a hug.
Anyways this is not what I want to talk about since I cannot put into words what I felt and what I'm still feeling.
What I want to talk about is what happened after. Since I was hurt I wanted to hurt my parents back, so I sent both of them a translation of this Rain webcomic page (CW: feels), hoping it would at least faze them.
It worked (a little) on my mum, but my dad... oh my dad...
He sent back this (translated from Italian)
Or, more likely: "One day he came home wearing a skirt and insisted that we call him Alicia. We were very saddened by what he was doing to himself and we tried to get him to reflect about it. But, out of misplaced pride, he left. Every day of his life he knew the unhappiness we had feared for him. 10 years later they asked us to identify the body: he had stopped suffering, and finally seemed at peace with himself. We had foreseen this downfall, but we had not been able to stop it. It is unforgivable that we have not offered him a dignified and satisfying life. The only thing I felt when reading this was a deep physical disgust. I recoiled and threw my phone away (phone is fine, don't worry).
In three thousand years, when paleontologists will find his skeleton, he will be recognized again as a male of the human species, as he had always been, and will be able to rest in peace "

2021.11.29 06:20 matuisgman Murder Ball
The Intergalactic Gravball Committee has officially denounced the Earth version of Gravball, and subsequently banned any human teams from playing in Gravball Tournaments. On the grounds of the previous ruling that allowed for multi species teams even if most were from earth that disrupted the traditions of the sport. The various unfounded enhancement scandal's, including the ruling to allow for human psionics despite humans are no naturally psionic and cybernetics being a leveler and not giving humans an advantage. Though the biggest, unofficial reason was the fear that this new game would bleed over into gravball because human teams often played both. Despite everything being preset to pre-human introduction, done in hopes to discourage human involvement anyways.
"What do you mean the A'Kar are withdrawing?"
"They want to play with the humans and like this variant..."
The desk reverberated from a fist, "It is not a variant, it is an abomination of the rules and traditions..."
The committee head sighed, "This is what the third or fourth species to leave?"
"Sixth actually sir."
"By the stars...at least the Atari..."
"What!" the committee head stood in shock, "The grand champions? They are the cornerstone of the entire sport...won one hundred thirty six times in a row. Why?"
"Apparently they like having multiple teams to a species, not to mention..."
"But that's the point of Gravball, to show each species as united and that none are superior to the other...Why is no one getting this."
"It's been almost a thousand years, maybe...."
"NO!" the head pointed at the assistant, "Say another word and your fired and blacklisted, there is NO, CHANGE. The sport has brought peace and prosperity and will continue to do so, now the humans make some back water no rules bar murder fest and everyone wants to join."
The appropriately named Murderball did have rules, though decidedly allowing for more aggressive game play that made things fair if more deadly. There was a reason the Atari almost always won, or the A'Kar or Sumi. All species that are almost literally unstoppable unless stopped cold or injured severely. This is why races like the Keen and P'Lec never get past the first rounds. It's not like the technology for such recitation doesn't exist. Not to mention the species excluded for the mere technicality of not being an individual sovereign state, or the many players unable to play at the highest level due to limited slots for each species.
"They make a mockery of the sport, they play it wrong and undermine the point that no one is unstoppable or invincible."
"Well a few species always..."
Another pointed thrust, "But they don't always win...at least our petition to the council will sort this out."
"They declined the petition, they won't even touch it."
The committee head's eyes bulged, "What do you mean the council is not going to do something about this?"
"The seem to approve..."
"Besides they feel that profits..."
"What? Do they think I...We care about profits? I..."
The committee head back into his chair, "Why do you always bring me bad news."
There were other differences between the regulated traditional gravball and the supposedly unregulated murderball, the biggest was larger teams, player rotations, time limits and breaks. Gravball you played a set number of players for several hours. Not to mention leveled disqualifications, instead of a whole team disqualified for the smallest infraction.
The committee head rubbed their temple, "Does the council want us to go back to being barbaric dredges. there are rules, regulations...you know you can keep playing in that travesty if you cheat? They let you stop playing? How does that prove you are not some superior species, a mean if you can keep throwing players in...
A small laugh, "Imagine the P'Lec winning and thinking they are big shits."
"No! That is exactly the point, everyone has limits and we can't just go around fighting everyone. Oh, we can win if we throw enough people at the game. Sure, of course you win if your allowed to go beyond your limits as a species."
A deep sigh, "Any other bad news?"
A long pause, the committee head looked up at their assistant "Out with it."
"The council has voted on something..."
The assistant shuffled, "Apparently its the only point of contention with this whole issue."
A happy sigh, "At least someone has brains..."
A quick rush of words, "They removed our naming license so the humans can call their sport gravball."
The entire table crashed over as the committee head rose up and the assistant shrank back, "Those imbecilic morons. They will delegitimize the our galactic legacy by allowing that...travesty of a...no, I won't call it a sport..."
It took a moment but the committee head calmed down, "I need to speak to our council representative"
A low soft voice, "We don't have one anymore..."
The two distinct leagues of Gravball ended up a galactic stable, though granted the Intergalactic League had fewer teams and fans, it still had a place in the sports world due to its prominence in the founding of the Alliance. The Allied League was the much more popular, much to the chagrin of the Intergalactic Gravball Committee. There was eventually a championship game between the two leagues which the Intergalactic Gravball Committee pushed for to prove their league as better, after being forced to change their rules. They lost, several cycles in a row and still blame it on lack of rules.
